Support Renewals Specialist - Sybase

Location: Maidenhead, Berks


Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for maximising Sybase support renewal revenues and customer satisfaction for the Norway and Denmark and ensuring the renewal process is adhered to in a smooth and timely fashion. You will also be the point of reference for other Sybase departments who require customer information pertaining to revenues, support and license information.


Your main responsibilities will include:
• Planning workload accordingly to ensure 90 day quote cycle for customers in a designated region.
• Generating and distributing accurate support renewal quotes and renewal sales orders to existing customer base in your territory.
• With regular customer contact during the renewal cycle, you will resolve any queries, prepare new quotations ensuring the renewal is completed prior to expiry date of the licenses/support.
• Maintaining and improving the accuracy of the customers' license information modifying the data to reflect adjustments in customer license inventory and verifying the accuracy of all contact and billing addresses.
• Liaising with other Sybase locations to ensure accurate production of renewal invoices, ensuring that agreement has been reached by the customer and that all back-up information is archived.


Personal skills/ Experience:
• Fluency in English and Norwegian and/or Danish, Swedish.
• Prior experience in sales support, customer service or contract administration.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, solid numeracy skills
• Able to deal with tact and diplomacy with sensitive customer issues.
• Ability to recognize revenue opportunities and succeed in upselling these to current customers, and also perform renewal negotiations.
• Proficiency in using computer systems, spreadsheets and word processing
• Excellent organizational skills and follow-through ability
• A general understanding of database applications and software maintenance contracts is necessary.

              Corporate Counsel - 1 year fixed term contract

Location: Maidenhead, Berks


Responsibilities:
The role is for a lawyer responsible for legal affairs in Sybase’s “Europe Region UK” based in Sybase UK’s headquarters at Maidenhead, with some time being spent in Sybase UK’s London office. S/he will be part of Sybase's EMEA legal team, and report to the Director of European Legal Affairs, who is based at Sybase UK’s headquarters at Maidenhead. The role is to provide first line legal support for all legal matters arising in the UK, with a particular focus upon negotiating commercial contracts – such as software licenses and consulting agreements.:


• Assisting in structuring deals with US software revenue recognition rules in mind.
• Acting as a guardian to corporate rules, ethics and procedures.
• Working with the HR team on legal matters arising out of the employment relationship.
• Any litigation which may arise from time to time and other general legal matters affecting a commercial enterprise.
• Legal training for the sales team.
• Approving press releases and other marketing materials


The role will be of interest to a commercial lawyer who enjoys commercial legal work in a generalist role, and who would like to be a key part of Sybase’s business activities in the UK.

mCommerce Systems Consultant - Sybase 365

Location: London


Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Sales Director EMEA, you will be supporting EMEA technical sales activities from both a pre-sales and post sales perspective. You will be the ‘local’ expert on Sybase 365 mCommerce offerings and solutions and should come from either a mobile and/or financial services pre sales environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• You will be responsible for all mCommerce EMEA related technical projects and issues.
• You will set-up demonstration and technical presentations to prospective clients.
• You will be working as a bridge between customers and internal teams to facilitate the development and implementation of mCommerce projects in EMEA.
• You will collect and analyze customer business requirement working as a pre-sales as the contact point between the customer, internal technology department and outside operators.
• You will be responsible for designing and presenting mCommerce solutions to customers.
• You will have strong knowledge of mobile services in EMEA, present suggestion and business solution to management team.
• You will be working with Sybase support, operators and vendors to ensure any service issues are resolved ASAP with clients.
• You will be educating and up skill existing country based pre-sales teams in EMEA on the mCommerce offering, tools and services.

Personal skills/ Experience:

• Possess strong communication skills and be able to present confidently to both business and technical audiences at customer sites.
• Having either a solid financial services working experience.
• Solid project management experience and knowledge.
• Must be a confident decision maker and be prepared to work autonomously and across multiple time zones in a fast paced environment.
• Multiple languages a definite advantage.
• Strong ability to handle customer complaints and solve customer problems.

Account Manager - Sybase 365

Support Acount Manager - Sybase 365

German Speaking

Location: Maidenhead


Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for working with the Service Desk to provide support to our strategic customers - acting as the face of the Service Desk to these customers.

Your main responsibilities will include:

•Managing multiple time sensitive customer accounts based predominantly in the European region by acting as a 2nd level escalation point to the customer, internal Sales and Service Desk teams and providing technical assistance to the customer where required.
•Responsibility and accountability for the quality of service delivered to the customer, including identifying any customer specific requirements and configuration as well as compiling and organizing the overall technical material for internal and external audiences from a diverse source – including all support services and escalation teams.
•Liaising with other departments to identify effective ways to distribute appropriate information about the customer account and communicate your recommendations for continuous improvement to the quality of services to the customer.
•Delivering a 24x7x365 support function via the Service Desk to your strategic customers and work with the Global Technical Support Manager and Director to ensure that appropriately skilled Service Desk staff are trained and available to achieve this.
•Facilitating weekly project status meetings to stakeholder staff within Sybase 365, including the sales account manager, country manager, senior service desk management and your line manager.
•Working with the Knowledge Base Manager, Quality Manager and Systems / Tools Analyst you will also be involved in the coaching and mentoring of new and existing Service Desk team members to bring them up to an advanced stage of support knowledge as soon as possible for all your customer accounts.

Personal skills/ Experience:
•Engineering degree in telecommunications or equivalent technical experience.
•Prior experience in a technical support position – preferably with a telecom related company.
•Proficiency with PC workstations, basic software, and applications.
•Intermediate knowledge of telecommunications, networking, and Internet essentials.
•Solid knowledge of network access server functionality & troubleshooting.
•Experience of Windows 2000 and XP, Sun Solaris, Linux OS.
•Working knowledge of mobile devices and web protocols (SMPP, HTTP, etc).
•Working knowledge of SQL.
•Experience with UNIX/Linux command line interface and shell programming/

  • You will have excellent communication skills.
    Self motivated individual able to work independently.

Technical Support Engineer - Sybase

Location: Maidenhead

Purpose of Position:

  • Ensure customer satisfaction by providing product and technical information to customers and field personnel to resolve known product problems of varying complexity.
  • Communicates problems resolution strategies and status to the customer in an accurate, professional, and timely, manner.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Resolves customer and field inquiries regarding current Sybase product behavior.
  • Owns and drives resolution of customer's CS&S cases.
  • Maintains records of cases, defines resolution action plans and follows through to case closure, ensuring customer satisfaction of their support experience.
  • Organizes delivery of product fixes to customers, coordinating necessary resources to ensure delivery is timely, efficient and satisfactory.
  • Promotes customer advocacy and satisfaction throughout the company.
  • Works with other Sybase personnel to maintain a quality of customer interaction consistent with corporate standards.

In order to be considered we require:

  • A Bachelors degree with Computer Science or equivalent is normally required.
  • Both effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive customer issues.
  • Exceptional follow-through ability.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • The ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Preferably fluent in English and in French and/or Spanish.

Should Have:

Candidate should have been in a 2nd line technical support or Unix SA role.

Technical Skills :

  • Sybase Open Client, Open Server and Adaptive Server Enterprise.
  • Experience in C/C++ is desirable, preferably with a background or appreciation of RDBMS.
  • Working knowledge of Unix and/or Windows NT/2003.
