Nicholas McQuire - Research Director, Enterprise Mobility - IDC
Nicholas McQuire joined IDC in 2010 as research director for the EMEA Enterprise Mobility and Machine-to-Machine programs. In this role he is primarily responsible for research into the adoption, supply, and emerging technology trends in the mobile business-to-business market, including strategic guidance on purchasing and end-user trends, vendor and service provider go-to-market strategies, and market forecasting.
Before joining IDC, McQuire was a senior marketing manager in the Insight, Strategy, and Planning division of BT Global Services, where he provided regular strategic insight on win-loss activity, market/competitor analysis, and product/proposition development for the network services, mobility, and unified communications portfolios. Before joining BT Global Services, he headed up European enterprise mobility research at Yankee Group.
He has an MA in economics and international relations from the University of St Andrews in the U.K. and a BA with first class honors from Mount Allison University in Canada.
Ian Thain, Senior Technical Evangelist, Sybase
Ian Thain works for Sybase as a Senior Technical Evangelist. For the last few years Ian has been centered around Enterprise Mobile Applications with Sybase Technology. He is now Evangelising the Sybase Unwired Platform (SUP).
Tim Roberts, Technical Services Manager, Sybase
Tim Roberts is the Technical Services Manager within Sybase UK's Cross Industry group - managing the team dealing with Sybase's core offerings in Mobile Enterprise Application Platforms and Mobile Device Management. Tim has over 16 years pre-sales and management experience with Mobility, having worked for a number of leading software companies in the industry.
Nick Staples, Practice Manager, Sybase South Africa
Nick Staples currently heads up the Sybase Mobile Practice for the Cape Region in South Africa. He has been with Sybase for over five years and has witnessed a transformation within the industry, where mobile solutions have moved from "nice to have" to critical requirements for conducting business efficiently. Nick has worked with a number of organisations across all aspects of mobility from inception of the mobile projects through to successful delivery. His background of over 15 years experience in the IT Consultancy field has leant itself well to his involvement in enterprise mobility. He has engaged extensively in the disciplines of project and programme management; architecture and business analysis; and the development of IT strategies and processes. His experience spans a number of companies ranging from small start up's to highly successful blue chip organizations across various verticals both in South Africa and the UK.
