The Data Integration Suite gives organizations a smarter, more streamlined approach to delivering diverse data throughout the enterprise – for faster, more informed decision-making and reduced operational costs and complexity. The Data Integration Suite offers a comprehensive, modular set of technologies with advanced, integrated modeling, development and administration tools, making it easy to accelerate the seamless flow of data to address some of your organizations’ most serious integration challenges.
The suite provides the fundamental data integration techniques of data consolidation, distribution and federation through a comprehensive set of technology components. Supporting these component technologies is an integrated modeling, metadata and development layer provided by WorkSpace. WorkSpace is a unified design and development environment that combines the power of heterogeneous enterprise data modeling (via the PowerDesigner plug-in for WorkSpace) with comprehensive application development tools. Using this environment, you can rapidly model, develop and deploy the various component technologies into your overall data integration architecture.
Underpinning the modeling and development layer is an integrated administration layer provided by Data Services Administrator, a powerful yet easy-to-use console that allows you to manage and deploy your data integration systems in an intuitive, secure and low-cost way.

BENEFITS
- Reduces operational cost and complexity—Modeling and development consistency across all of the data integration technologies, and a high degree of model/metadata re-use, reduces operational cost and complexity. The Data Integration Suite also runs on low-cost standard platforms with a high degree of openness – smart insurance for the future.
- Accelerates the design, development and delivery of seamless data flows—Common modeling, metadata management, development tooling, administration and other data services enable data architects to quickly model end-to-end data flows involving multiple sources, understand the lineage of information and the impact of changes, and make changes with greater control and agility.
- Comprehensive and flexible—Customers can choose best-fit data integration techniques – or a combination of techniques – including ETL, replication, federation or event-based integration to build flexible data flows. Because the Data Integration Suite is modular, you can start with today’s projects and scale to address ongoing data integration challenges, no matter how big or complex.

INTEGRATION TECHNOLOGY COMPONENTS
- Data Federation
Data Federation integrates data from many distributed sources while providing standardized access to integrated views of data through a single data layer. The federated approach delivers data directly from original sources rather than via data replicas or marts.
- Replication
Replication, the leader in heterogeneous data replication, is appreciated by data architects for its real-time bi-directional data synchronization capabilities, which ensure reliable data availability across the enterprise. Among a variety of data distribution solutions/environments, Replication supports intelligent capture and extraction of data, providing real-time data integration capabilities.
- Real-Time Events
This technology proactively pushes time-critical data from heterogeneous enterprise databases to messaging architectures, eliminating the “information lags” created by batch updates or intermittent polling processes. Real-Time Events also connects any data source directly to any application by constructing dynamic automated process flows linking multiple data sources and applications.
- Search
Search helps companies in data-intensive industries query and analyze their structured and unstructured data sources. Search also enables applications to automatically find the most important information within the masses of unstructured information stored in organizations’ centralized repositories, libraries, file systems and existing document management systems.
- ETL
ETL (extract, transform and load) supports data consolidation by bringing data or copies of data from multiple sources together into a single repository. ETL capabilities combine industry-leading ease-of-use with a scalable GRID architecture.
MODELING, METADATA AND DEVELOPMENT
- PowerDesigner
As enterprise data environments become increasingly diverse and complex, data professionals are turning to modeling tools to help them gain control. To that end, Sybase has taken a model-driven approach to data integration, and has created the Data Integration Suite on a robust foundation of data modeling and metadata management capabilities. These capabilities are provided within the suite by Sybase’s market-leading modeling solution, PowerDesigner. Using PowerDesigner, data and enterprise architects can create and capture the metadata needed to describe their future data environment: requirements, data models, data flows, process models, and more. Using this metadata, the Data Integration Suite offers a toolset to design data integration architectures and then implement them using whichever component technology is most appropriate. Additionally, architects can reverse-engineer existing data flows and then model and implement changes to those flows as required by new business processes. These capabilities allow the enterprise to anticipate change more proactively and make rapid adjustments centrally as needed.
- WorkSpace
WorkSpace represents the future of tooling and provides the integrated development environment (IDE) for the Data Integration Suite. Data Integration architects and developers need a more flexible framework that can address a range of development tasks, keep pace with the latest standards and hide the complexity of underlying infrastructure technologies. Based on the open-source Eclipse framework, WorkSpace is a Java toolkit included with the suite that integrates important tools for database development, Web application development, service-oriented architectures and mobile applications. Using the data models created in PowerDesigner, architects can utilize WorkSpace to develop and implement the Data Integration Suite technologies that best solve their data integration challenges.
DATA SERVICES ADMINISTRATION
- Data Services Administrator
With the Data Services Administrator, you can manage multiple data services across all of your enterprise data resources through a centralized console. Data caching, security and services orchestration can be managed across the different integration technologies. Data cleansing and profiling capabilities provided by third-party solutions can also be administered.
